Achieving interoperability through ODP trading function
نویسنده
چکیده
Interoperability between autonomous decentralized systems needs support of an information service that can provide dynamic knowledge about available service providers within the network. In this paper, we describe trading service. Trading is an essential infrastructure function indicated by ODP (Open Distributed Processing) reference model, a metamodel of heterogeneous distributed processing. The purpose of trading is to support location transparency of services: it hides the location of service providers, even if they are located in separate, autonomous domains. Cooperation between trading service providers (traders) supports federation transparency, i.e. hides diierences of technology used in separate domains. In cooperation , the traders have to mediate service type diier-ences, negotiate policy diierences and tolerate technology diierences between domains. Together with other fundamental functions trading ooers a platform for open distributed computing between autonomous subsystems .

The current development of computing and telecommunication environments aims towards interoperability across separate platforms and organisations in a world-wide fashion. Interoperability means that software components can be exploited from arbitrary computers in such a way that the service semantics is preserved. The mechanisms supporting interoperability at the application level must mask het...
متن کاملOverview of the Dryad Trading System Implementation
The Open Distributed Processing Reference Model (ODP-RM) of ISO and ITU deenes a set of basic services which every open system has to support and use. One of such services is the trading function. The purpose of the trading function is to help objects, for example application program components, to discover target objects in a dynamic network environment. In this paper, we introduce trading as ...
متن کاملODP-Trader
In an open distributed system, it is desirable to have dynamic selection of required services. Trading is a common ODP function that enables client (service consumers) to choose appropriate servers (service providers) at run time so that clients can be configured into an ODP system without prior knowledge of the server objects. An ODP-trader is an object that provides such a trading function. U...
